Store Personnel

Orvis Retail Store - Bakewell - Marie MallonStore Manager: Marie Mallon
Marie has worked in retail for over 20 years; but, in working for Orvis, Marie considers herself lucky enough to combine a position that complements her love of the outdoors and country lifestyle. Marie is a keen horse woman, dog lover, and an occasionally decent shot (though not as good as other members of her team—they have the targets framed in their staff room as evidence). She says her team members at Orvis Bakewell are amongst the best and is in no doubt they are the reason for the success of the store. "With the wealth of knowledge between our team and across all of our in-store departments, we’ll always ensure that when you visit us, you are met with a warm welcome, but will leave as friends!"

Orvis Retail Store - Bakewell - John BlewittFishing Specialist: John Blewitt
John has been fishing for nearly 60 years, both coarse and game, and he is the co-founder/member of Sheffield Partnership Rivers In Town Environment (SPRITE CIC). A finalist in Sheffield Telegraph Environment awards in the individual category, he is a qualified coach in game and coarse fishing. John said he has fished on the Derbyshire streams for longer than he cares or dares to remember and has had the opportunity to fish Canada, New Zealand, Norway, Ireland, and Holland. He started work at Orvis Bakewell a few months after it opened and is eager to pass on his extensive fishing knowledge through the courses offered at the store.

Orvis Retail Store - Bakewell - Max PriceFishing Specialist: Max Price
Max has been fly fishing and tying flies for nearly 50 years—despite his young looks! When not riding a motorcycle he will be found chasing trout on one of the magnificent Derbyshire rivers near Bakewell; the main ones being the Derwent, Dove, Wye, and Manifold. Max retired 10 years ago after a career in retailing, which involved 14 years with Marks and Spencer followed by owning his own Garden Centre in Northamptonshire for 18 years. Max has recently completed his Sport England fly-fishing coach courses and looks forward to helping folk in the store to learn and develop their skills in fly fishing.

CAN’T MAKE IT TO A CLASS IN PERSON? NO PROBLEM.
